Now I am in my second trimester and it feels good to be here. Last night we celebrated, with none other than vereniki. Oh yes we did.

First Trimester: DONE!
We've had a bit of a rough first trimester this go around. The "morning sickness" hit me hard and fast at 4 weeks along but (thank the Good Lord) has been letting up gradually over the last few weeks. We also had an ectopic pregnancy scare, which required additional testing and an early ultrasound. I had some pain, cramping and spotting from weeks 4-7 which was also worrisome and due to a condition I have called Polycystic ovarian syndrome, my risk of miscarriage is already at 40-50%. Because of all these factors my risk of miscarriage was very high- until now. Now my risks are still higher than average- because I've had two teeny tiny babes and two less than perfect placentas- but the risk is no longer nearly as significant and no longer includes miscarriage. My risks are now placenta related- having an unhealthy placenta can potentially lead to all sorts of issues (small baby, abruption, preterm delivery, etc). Thankfully I am being well taken care of at our Children's Hospital and hopefully we'll know about a potential problem before it becomes an issue.
