The neighbors across the street had a nasty house fire yesterday. A fire fighter told us it started in the workshop but he wasn't sure how. No one was hurt, thankfully, but there is a lot of damage to their home. Most of the windows are broken and there is a hole in the roof.
There were six fire trucks putting out the fire for about 1.5 hours and we watched almost the whole thing- we had to take a break to eat supper. They even used the ladder on top of the truck. It was all very exciting. Mostly we stayed inside but when they were wrapping up we went out to get a better look. Ezra waved to a fire fighter and he got rewarded with a tour of the fire truck. The boys chose helmets from our costume box to wear while they watched from our living room window- Ezra chose one of two firemen helmets and Silas chose a yellow construction hat. He wanted that one because it was yellow like the firemen. Our fire hats are both red.
