No Chance of Knowing

With our first pregnancy, Rob and I decided not to find out the gender of the baby. We had many reasons for this but the main one is that I wanted to find out and Rob didn't, so I conceded. It is important to mention that we realized that the ultrasound only predicts which sex is more likely than the other- it is not precise. In fact, it is only about 80% accurate. In the end, I was glad it was a surprise and had fun not knowing.

This time around, we decided we would find out. Mostly we wanted to know ahead of time if we should be preparing for the unlikely chance it's a girl or not. Rob was still unsure, but conceded, noting that I had not found out for his sake last time, so he would find out for my sake this time. Very sweet. We were going to keep the gender of the baby a secret from YOU however, so that there would be SOME surprise, as we are having a scheduled C-Section, and the birthdate will be known well in advance.

Yesterday, I got a letter in the mail from the ultrasound clinic that confirms my appointment. It also states: "Diagnostic Imaging Ultrasound does not provide pictures of, or the sex of the baby." Okay- what? No pictures? Are you serious? I can understand why they would not tell me the gender- I'm disappointed- but I get that some people would be upset with the sonogram technician, were the ultrasound wrong about the sex. However, I do not understand why they would not provide a picture. How hard is it to hit "print"? Seriously. I am annoyed. And I am hoping that they surprise me next week (my appointment is Sept. 15) and give me a photo to take home. I am going to ask for one anyway.

Maybe I was just spoiled the first time around- I have 14 photos of Ezra in utero.
