At least we know they aren't just letting anyone pass. This is encouraging.
He didn't complete all of the skills required to move on to the next level so he has to repeat it. The two he missed were holding his breath and kicking with a flotation device.
He is not the least bit upset. It's all very matter of fact to him: reality. He knows he didn't do everything required. He says maybe next time he'll do all the things and then he'll be able to move on.
Many of the other children also did not pass. They were upset. Their parents were upset. People are silly. If your kid didn't open his eyes under water or know how to put on the life jacket do you really want them moved on anyway?
This has shown me what life will be like trying to parent my child in front of other parents. Rob and I have different expectations of our children and of the world than most. They want even swimming lessons handed to their kids when we expect our child to earn them.
In other skill related news, Ezra has been excelling at piano lessons. He is working on a Christmas surprise that I will share soon! He is learning faster than I thought and enjoying it immensely.
