Silas Success

Silas has had a couple of major (to me) successes in the last few days.

For one, he has slept through the night AND gone to be well for two nights in a row. That hasn't happened since before Christmas.

Two, he is no longer asking to sit on my lap after I'm done my meals. This became a habit while we were out West- he was uncomfortable being in a strange environment and he constantly wanted to eat while sitting on my lap. So we made the rule that he couldn't sit on me until I was done eating. That continued until last week when I said "Enough is enough" and refused him on my lap at all: he was waiting around until I was done before he even took a bite or two because he just wanted to sit with me. Now, a week later, he doesn't sit on my lap anymore.

Three, he will stay on the time-out chair without being strapped or pinned down. This has taken months and I hope it continues.

He is also learning more words, both verbal and sign. He learns the sign language MUCH faster and we have decided to keep teaching both to him until he catches up verbally. He can sign: please, thank you, milk, help, more, sorry, love you, and general gesturing. His news words are: owl, rainbow (r-bow), boat, hello (not just 'hi'), bird, banana, apple, get, I do, do it, and maybe more that I can't think of right now.
