Silas has been getting up a LOT in the night lately and it's been quite a challenge for me. He will usually go back to bed (as long as its before 5AM) but he continues to awaken every 20-30 mins, usually from 3:30 on. This has been exhausting, to say the least, and I am at a loss as to what to do. We have a man named John staying with us indefinitely (long story) so I don't want Silas to scream forever and then some in the middle of the night. Normally that would be my go to solution- let him cry and see what kind of problem solving or resolution he comes up with on his own. Not that I'd ignore him, but I just wouldn't give in to cuddling at any time I the night. At 5AM when he decides its morning I've been bringing him into bed with me- trying to convince him it's not morning and also trying to go back to sleep myself. At this time he's been crying for Dad because he knows this means he will get up for the day and eat breakfast. Rob usually gets up with him at about 5:45-6ish and then I go back to sleep. But I feel like I have a newborn- only he doesn't sleep well during the day. He naps for maybe an hour and then occasionally he will fall asleep on my lap for another 30-60 mins after that. But he's on my lap so that isn't very relaxing for me.
Last night he woke up at 3:15 crying "uh-oh". I had no idea what was up and so I did my usual routine of trying to get him to stay in bed. Then I realized he was grabbing at his legs and continued to cry "uh-oh". Upon further investigation I realized he had lost his socks and wanted me to find them. Seriously? I have to get up at 3 in the morning to put your socks on? Unbelievable. At least he had a reason other than wanting me though, right?
