I love decorating for the season. Whatever season it is, you'll know it by the wreath on the door, the faux flowers in the vase or the paint chip garland. I also love using decorations to teach my half pints about WHY it is a holiday. Why are there cornucopias at Thanksgiving? What about poinsettias at Christmas or eggs at Easter? These are things some adults don't know so I wanted to start them young :).
This year, to accentuate the meaning behind Thanksgiving, the boys and I made a "thankful tree". I bought a wall decal from Walmart for the base and then we made hand-print leaves. We put them on the tree all willy-nilly like a fall tree would be, and then we wrote what we are thankful for on each leaf. Now it serves as a constant reminder to be grateful, and of all the incredible things we have been blessed with, but often overlook.
Silas didn't contribute to any of the words, but he sure had fun putting the hands on the wall. Then he was quite sad when we ran out of hands. Ezra did awesome once he understood what kinds of things we were looking for. He came up with many good ideas, some of which include: my stuff, the park, our new yard, my friends (then he listed them), Jesus dying on the cross and coming back to life, Canada, and being Happy.
And here is a picture of the boys studying the wall together after completion.

I love that Silas has his arm around Ezra. Precious.
