Ezra the Evangelist

My big boy is quite the little evangelist. He is too young to know or understand that some people don't know, and some don't want to know about Jesus. Ezra loves God, prays often and talks about Jesus, and Heaven and other Bible stories often. He sleeps with his Bible and brings it to church every week, even though Rob and I leave ours at home.
Last week we had some distant family come for supper. After dinner, Ezra wanted to read some stories with the male half of the couple. He was asked to choose a book, and chose his special Bible. I assured the man he did not have to read it to Ezra if he was uncomfortable but he insisted he was fine with it.
"What story do you want to read from your Bible Ezra?" the man asked.
"Jesus dying on the cross" was the reply.
And so it went. They read the next few stories, and Ezra kept asking questions or making observations. Such as, "rising from the dead is called the resurrection, did you know that?" and, "Jesus takes the robber to Heaven with Him because he is sorry he did bad things and decides to love Jesus."
Little did he know the seeds that were planted in this mans heart. I pray he continues to live up to the prophet he was named for: knowing more about God and his laws than anyone since Moses, and preaching the truth no matter what. I also pray that the people around him will listen eagerly, standing all morning as he proclaims the good news of Christ.

This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the LORD and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel. (Ezra 7:10 NLT)

He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law. (Nehemiah 8:3 NIV)
