LOTS of Easter

We did a LOT of celebrating this Easter weekend. Thursday we had a "Last Supper". We ate unleavened breads and dips and drank grape juice. Then we washed each other's feet.  On Friday, we decorated our eggs and attended the Good Friday service at our church. Saturday morning we played the Easter Bunny Game and had friends over for brunch. I made eggs in a basket. Then on Sunday we had resurrection rolls for breakfast! Those are marshmallows dipped in butter, rolled in cinnamon sugar, wrapped in crescent rolls, and then baked. The marshmallow is Jesus, the butter is the oil, cinnamon is spices, roll is linens, oven is tomb ! When you cook them, the marshmallow melts and it looks as though it disappears. Too fun! And yummy! Then we went to the Resurrection Sunday service and had some friends over for a feast. I made a lamb leg roast and it was a success!
Something else we did to help remember the Easter story and teach it to our boys is something called Resurrection Eggs. For the 12 days before Easter we opened up one egg. Inside each egg is a symbol of an event that happens during the time of the first Easter, and the Bible verse to go along with it. For example, there was a cracker to symbolize the Last Supper, three dimes for the thirty pieces of silver Judas betrayed Jesus for, a nail, a cross and a crown of thorns, etc. It was awesome and the Ezra LOVED it. He can even tell you what each one means. I turned each item into a ornament and we placed it on a centrepiece so that we had a visual reminder each day of why and what we are celebrating!
