Well it's official- Ezra is wearing Big Boy underwear. Yep- we're toilet training.
We fully realize that potty training means in fact MORE work than changing diapers. With a diaper, you change it on your time- when you notice he's wet, every few hours. With Big Boy underwear, he goes when he goes no matter what you're doing. And no matter what he's doing.
So far I think it's been going quite well. He has had some major success and also is starting to tell us he needs to go sooner. Ezra likes to go in the toilet- he doesn't like to try to go when he doesn't have to, but he sure likes to wave "Bye-bye" to whatever he's done in there and flush it away. This morning (day four) out of the four times he's peed this morning, we've had three start to finishes on the toilet and one finish with him stopping himself in between. I have no doubt that he was ready!
We really wanted him fully trained before the baby comes, and so we figured- no time like the present. He's been waking up dry from naps and overnight for a while now, is very interested in what we do when we're in there, and is very happy to please. He also has incredible comprehension so we were not worried about him being too young (he is barely 18 months). I'd way rather do it now that when I've got another one who's learning to walk at the same time or what have you. I mean I'd do it, but I think I'd rather get this very necessary skill over with sooner than later.
